Isabella, or Izzy for short, has a black father and a white mother.  Following a messy divorce that results in alternating weeks at each parent’s house, with contentious hand-offs in between, Isabella grapples with her sense of belonging within her family and the world as her parents move on with new partners.  To further complicate matters, Imani, Isabella’s best friend, experiences a highly charged incident of racism directed at her.  This event serves as a backdrop for exploring how race and the skin we wear influence both how others perceive us and how we perceive ourselves.
